The UK's Royal Navy has relaxed its entry requirements due to recruitment problems. AdvertisementThe UK's Royal Navy has relaxed its entry requirements for new recruits, no longer requiring them to demonstrate swimming proficiency prior to joining, Sky News reported. It exemplifies how the Royal Navy, the most feared world sea power in the 19th and early 20th centuries, is struggling to stay fit for purpose in the 21st century. A Royal Navy spokesperson rebuffed claims of lowered standards, telling Sky News that all recruits would still undergo a swim test during training. Business Insider contacted the Royal Navy for comment.

Artists and their galleries are responsible for producing all of the small works, but Barely Fair’s team helps with installation as needed. Roland Miller/Barely FairBarely Fair began as a joke between the co-founders of the artist space Julius Caesar, but they quickly realized its potential as a serious art fair. “And I think that Barely Fair is much more successful at that.”For nascent galleries and artists, Barely Fair is a more accessible way to participate in Chicago’s art week, which draws curators and collectors from around the world. “(It’s) inverting the dynamics of making a monument at small scale,” she said, explaining that Barely Fair “happened to feel almost tailor-made” for her work.

Bitcoin fell for a second day to start the new month and quarter, amid rising Treasury yields and strength in the U.S. dollar. Data from CryptoQuant shows a spike in that exchange's reserves, which typically signals a boost in selling activity, that coincides with the sudden drop in bitcoin price late Monday night. Crypto exchange Coinbase fell 4%, while software provider MicroStrategy , which largely trade as a proxy for the price of bitcoin, lost nearly 7%. Investors are looking toward the bitcoin halving – which will slash the reward, and therefore revenue, of bitcoin miners – in the second half of the month. The event could hurt the performance of miners but historically has set bitcoin up for rallies of 300% or more in the months that follow.

A small rug can detract from the room's cohesion and make it appear smaller. A rug that's too small can make it look like the furniture is floating around it. Artazum/ShutterstockIf the rug in your room is too small, it can seem like all of your furniture is floating around without something to ground each piece. A small rug can also make a room feel cramped since it's essentially at the center of a furniture cluster. Extending beyond the furniture a bit expands the living-room area and makes the room feel more spacious.
Black toilets kind of scare me — plus they can be hard to keep clean. Flipser/ShutterstockBlack toilets remind me of the uncomfortable feeling of using portable toilets — in which you really don't want to see the bottom. A black toilet might seem like a chic, modern choice, but the color can make it harder to clean. Though a white toilet shows dust, watermarks, and smudges, a black one hides all the grime and buildup. If you want to bring a moody-chic look into the bathroom, do it with black towel rods and fixtures rather than a toilet.
Impractical countertops aren't versatile in the long run. chuckcollier/Getty ImagesIf you're renovating your kitchen, I recommend selecting countertops that are neutral and conventional to most designs. Though it's tempting to design your space to match current trends, going with neutral big-ticket items, like a countertop, will allow you the flexibility to change your decor in the future. I'd especially avoid materials like butcher block, wood, concrete, and tile because they have a trendy, distinct look and may require special maintenance. Instead, use those materials in a portion of your kitchen, like in a separate bar area, to give you the look you want without committing 100% to the trend.
The price of the flagship cryptocurrency was last higher by 6% at $60,391.10, according to Coin Metrics. Bitcoin has soared more than 18% this week alone, after a week-long pause of this year's rally. "The economics of bitcoin dictate that it should continue to drive higher." Specifically, the halving, an event mandated in the Bitcoin code, reduces the bitcoin mining reward by half in order to limit the supply. "Institutional capital is still getting up to speed with bitcoin ETFs – platform approvals, advisor education, client education – I expect a lot more demand is still under the surface and yet to be seen."

Faux-leather upholstery isn't as durable as it may seem. Iglenas/ShutterstockThough vegan alternatives can be great, from what I've seen, faux leather is not a durable alternative to its genuine counterpart. Faux leather is made with plastics, and may be resistant to cracks and scratches, but over time it'll start to deteriorate. Faux leather won't stretch and soften like the real thing, so I wouldn't recommend investing in it if you want comfortable, durable furniture. If you love the look of leather and want to be cruelty-free, accent your space with the faux stuff instead.

Delta-8 THC, or delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol, is one of more than 100 chemical compounds found in the Cannabis sativa plant. To make delta-8 products, scientists typically make synthetic versions in the lab. Unlike regulated medical products like acetaminophen, which must have uniform ingredients and doses, the contents of delta-8 products vary from product to product — sometimes even from batch to batch. She also encourages people who buy delta-8 products to store them safely so children can’t get to them. Until there are more regulations on the products, experts said, poison centers will still get calls about delta-8 and other cannabis products.
